Thinking about creating an Author YouTube Channel or already have one? Brilliant! You are, that is.
Because your readers like video. I know…crazy, right!
I mean, they’re readers. Why would they want to watch a video when they could read a book or your book review blog?
Well, they probably have pretty boring dayjobs [we can’t all be full-time romance writers!] and after reading a gazillion emails, memos, manuals, policies, contracts and other extremely coma-inducing corporate nonsense, they’re ready for some fun.
It could be your book review. It might be your book blog.
But more likely, it’s video.
As in a movie, a TV show or a YouTube clip.
So let’s get you caught up on what’s new with YouTube
While you were enjoying your summer vacation, Amazon was buying Whole Foods and Google was tinkering around with YouTube.
This one’s easy
1 New Logo
If you’re still using the old YouTube Logo on your site, time to find a new one. The cute red tube is gone.
There’s a big movement towards text only logos.
2 Cover Art Now Stands Alone
Prior to summer, YouTube Cover Art was exactly like the Facebook Page Cover Art: they slapped a big circle image of your profile pic on top. Which meant you have to either:
- Eyeball where you thought it might appear and try not to write any text there
- Go back and forth through tedious reiterative processes to get it just right through painful Trial & Error
- Find a template with the latest dimensions
- Hire someone to do it
ORIGINAL: See that big WHITE GAP on the Left?
That was for the profile pic. The new YouTube, doesn’t have that. Hooray!
